The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe ever.

For about the past four years I have been on a mission to find the best, most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. I searched every nook and cranny on the internet, reading through countless forums and blogs and testing hundreds of different recipes but none of them were what I was looking for. I was on a quest for a cookie that was chewy, remained soft days after baking and had the perfect amount of chocolate to every bite. I tried countless recipes but the main issue I had was that though my cookies would come out nice and soft right out the oven, as soon as they chilled they were crunchy and hard (so heartbreaking).
It wasn’t until last year that I came across a recipe, where after reading the reviews, made me curious enough to give it a shot. The recipe was Alton Brown’s Chewy chocolate chip cookie. What. a. game. changer.

This recipe has everything you could dream of in a cookie and after baking it for the first time I was in looove.

These stunning, aesthetically pleasing cookies stayed soft days after being baked which was my number one criteria on my cookie scale. After countless times trying this recipe there’s a few things I should note.

  1. It is absolutely important to give your dough time to chill in the fridge. Trust Me. I was in a tight bind for time baking cookies for a loved ones birthday and I said eh, that’s probably a step I can skip and, I was wrong. My cookies came out looking nothing like the cookies you buy at the supermarket but rather its more rounded, plump cousin. Though they still tasted great, visually, they just weren’t as beautiful.
This is how I wrap up my cookie dough prior to putting in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

2. I love butter as much as the next person but I started to notice that these cookies would sometimes be too greasy. It pains me to say they are just too buttery for my taste. So I started cutting the butter from 8 ounces to 5 ounces of butter per batch and it was exactly what I was looking for. I don’t think this is a must but, give them a try and if you’re like me just cut the butter amount to 5 ounces and you’ll be in the clear. No greasy fingers for you.

I mean come on! they even look beautiful before the oven.
