If you stopped by and read my 25 random facts you know that I love to read. For as long as I can remember books have been a way for me to escape the real world and fall into a world that resides between the pages. I fall in love with the characters and become fully invested in the lives they carry out in the novel. As I got older my love for books grew and it wasn’t until college that I really started to dive deep into my favorite stories.
Lately, I’ve been so busy with work and cakes that I haven’t been able to get through the book I’m currently reading. I’m reading the second novel in the Kevin Kwan trilogy, China Rich Girlfriend. I started reading this series because my cousin (a fellow lover of books) is obsessed with it! This is her favorite trilogy and if she loves it that much, I certainly had to give it a try. If I’m being honest though, when I was reading the first novel in the series it was hard to get into it. There’s a lot of descriptions and definitions that go along with the story and it felt like a lot of extra stuff to the story that I could live without but I wasn’t going to stop once I had already started and I continued on and honestly really ended up enjoying the book. The book follows heir to a fortune, Nicholas Young as he brings his girlfriend home to Singapore for his best friend’s wedding. The novel gives you romance, drama, scheming and lots of laughs. When I picked up the second book a little part of me thought I would have a hard time getting into it because of my reservations at the beginning of the first book. I was definitely proven wrong because the second book starts off sooooo juicy! Author Kevin Kwan brought all the drama and took the story in a direction I didn’t see coming. I’m half way through the novel and am fully invested in how it turns out. My goal is to finish it by the end of the month and then start a monthly book post on here to update you on all my readings! Next month I’ll let you all know what I thought about the ending of this novel and let you in on my next reading adventure.
Kevin Kwan’s trilogy can be bought in paperback here. If you decide to venture into this story I promise you won’t be disappointed. If you’re not a book lover but still want to know about the story, it also was made into a movie! Check it out on HBO if you have a subscription or Amazon Prime for purchase. Leave me a comment with any book recommendations and I’ll definitely give them a try!
